Take A Look At How Distinctives Help Make
The Kingdom of God Visible
What Makes CCCS ‘Distinct’
Leadership: CCCS desires to shape the hearts and minds of students as they mature into educated Christian leaders. If our students are to develop into global citizens in possession of both discernment and the disposition to improve the environment in which they live, they must be provided with meaningful real-life application experiences while young. To this end we offer opportunities for students to serve others, e.g. Serving Others Day, Spirit of Giving Days each month and adopting families at Christmas time.
Fine Arts: Art is one of the most extraordinary gifts God has given humanity to manifest His glory on Earth. The goal of the Fine Arts Department is to foster not only artistic qualities and character in our students, but also to encourage them to perform and create with servants’ hearts. In music, CCCS offers violin universally in grades K-3 while our older students can choose from a combination of violin, band and choir. Performances are held throughout the year. Students may audition to take part in Musical/Theatrical performances.
Technology: Our Technology staff provides oversight while collaborating with teachers to utilize interactive white boards, online educational tools and Chromebooks. These combine with a chroma key green screen and recording studio equipment so student leaders can provide newscasts for all students to enjoy. Students use Chromebooks as part of learning through our 1:1 Chromebook program in grades 1-5.
Enrichment and Intervention: The goal of our Enrichment Program is to encourage bright children to take risks. Identified children are encouraged to stretch for new learning in a safe, nurturing environment that treats mistakes as merely another way to learn. Special Education Intervention is provided and student grouping is flexible and adjustable based on student needs. Our Enrichment and Intervention teachers are licensed in their respective areas of expertise. We accept the Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship and the Autism Scholarship.
Foreign Language: Students in all grades receive weekly Spanish instruction and are taught vocabulary and sentence structure, and conversational skills by native or highly qualified language teachers. We also place emphasis on the importance of understanding culture.
Physical Education Programs: Formal PE is offered for all students. Our curriculum adheres to ODE standards and promotes sportsmanship becoming of Christian boys and girls. Understanding the link between physical activity and learning, students also engage in daily recess breaks.
